The first International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (IEMDC) was held in 1997, jointly sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering Society and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in response to the need for an international conference on electric machines and drives. The Industry Application Society and the Power Electronics Society decided in 1998 to be co-sponsors and since then the conference is jointly sponsored by the named four societies of IEEE.
IEMDC 2009 is intended top be a gathering for users, designers, and analysts of electric machines and drives, and related power electronics and controls. It offers an excellent opportunity for the presentation of technical papers to an international forum for sharing new ideas, experience, and advances in design, control and analysis of electrical machines, and drive systems, analysis, new materials utilization, and optimization techniques for electrical machine drive systems, and drive components including all varieties and sizes of electric machinery. Practical applications, operations, maintenance, and the development and harmonizing international standards related to electric machines and drives are also included.
